Traditional Art - Term 2

Perspective Concept art for The Walking Dead: A New Frontier by Aasim Zubair This piece of Games Art uses two point perspective. It shows a long hallways with two doors from each end. The corner of the hallways where it bends at a right angle is closer to the viewer, and the doors are the furthest away. This is what two point perspective does. The points are typically far apart on a straight line, which are the vanishing points.  Christ handing the keys to St. Peter by Pietro Perugino (1481-2) This traditional piece from art history uses one point perspective. The buildings sit on top of the horizon line and people in the distance get smaller as they're closer to the vanishing point. Skeletal Anatomy Skeletal anatomy involves the structure of a skeleton in a character, and is supposed to replicate accuracy in real life. Traditional Art - Term 2 (Feedback)

For one of my tasks in Traditional Art I sketched out a variety of designs for a character concept, starting off with silhouettes and them developing them into slightly more detailed thumbnails. I would build up on a few ideas and make slight changes to the designs to come up with more ideas to receive feedback from. I submitted these designs to get feedback on which designs people liked the most, which would then be taken forward to be adjusted and developed further. Below are my thumbnail sketches along with the feedback received. Based on my feedback, design 8 appears to be the most popular choice. 1 also appears to be favoured, and II also like this design personally. For the future, I'm going to take these designs forward and develop them into more detailed concepts, and possibly take some elements and merge them together.

In this blog, I am going to cover the art and design process and considerations made when creating pieces for the industry. I will show examples of my work where I have taken these techniques into consideration and exploring outside the box. I aim to become a concept artist for games in the future, and, having learned these techniques and implementing them into my work, I could work in a range of games that focus on different styles.  Colour Theory Colour Theory is an essential feature when it comes to concept art. Colours are used if they have certain connotations and want to create a mood for the audience. They have to hold a meaning to the character or environment, and artists need to understand how this can be used in their work. Upon learning this, I have researched artists and how they have implemented colour theory into their work. Listed below are some examples I found.
